Schedule :
Off The Grid Racing’s inaugural adventure race, The Cauldron, has been designed to showcase the brutality and beauty of summer racing in the heart of Florida. With a strong focus on remoteness, self-sufficiency, and strategic decision making The Cauldron aims to bring the flavor of an expedition into a weekend race.
The Cauldron will send racers through numerous distinct biological communities on foot, bike, and canoe. Significant sections of the race are on rarely used remote parcels yet to be seen in a public event. Racers can expect to traverse old-growth cypress domes, oak dominated hammocks, longleaf pine forest, and geologically ancient waterways. Racers may see alligators, bison, horses and hundreds of species of birds.
This is not a beginner’s race. This is not a series of sprint orienteering between well stocked transition areas. July in Florida will be harsh; high temperatures and humidity with the chance of electrical storms. This is not a race to try and get away with squeaking by on the minimum gear, or food, or water.
The OTG crew guarantees an adventure. If your team has done the work, prepped the equipment, and can make good decisions at speed then you might make it a race.
The Cauldron is sanctioned by the United States Adventure Racing Association and is a Regional Qualifier for the USARA National Championship. The top finishing co-ed team will receive $400 toward entry!
